How to perform a Warm Boot / Cold Boot on a Honeywell Mobile Computer? What are the key sequences to perform a Warm Boot / Cold Boot? Can the Cold Boot / Warm Boot key sequences be changed or disabled?

Each device user guide explains the reset options and methods.
Below is a short description, but for complete details please review the product documentation.

Please note the following:

  • It is not possible to change or disable these key sequences.
  • A cold boot will not delete any file on devices running a flash based memory architecture (i.e. : Dolphin 6000, 6100, 6500, 7800, 99EX, Optimus PDA). 
 

Dolphin 6000:

Warm Boot: There is no key combination for a warm boot. Use the Power Tools to reboot the device. Go to 'Start' > 'Power Tools' > 'Reboot' > 'Reboot'.

Cold boot / Hard reset:

  1. Press and hold the power button for 3 seconds.The following dialog will be displayed: "Warning. This may cause some information loss, do you really want to shutdown?"
  2. Tap on the "OK" button to shutdown the device.
  3. Press and hold the power button again to boot up the device. Once the Dolphin is up and running, the "Cold boot" process is completed.

Dolphin 6100:

Warm Boot: using the stylus, press the Reset switch*.

Cold Boot: using the stylus, press and hold the Reset switch* while pressing the Power button then release both keys.

*The Reset switch is a small recessed button located next to the Power button.

Dolphin 6500:

Warm Boot: using the stylus, press the Reset switch*.

Cold Boot: using the stylus, press and hold the Reset switch* while pressing the Power button then release both keys.

*The Reset switch is located next to the Arrow keys on a 28-key device, or next to the Scan button on a 52-key device.

Dolphin 7600:

Warm Boot: press Red + ESC for approximately 5 seconds.

Cold Boot: press Red + TAB for approximately 5 seconds.

Dolphin 7850:

Warm Boot: press Red + ESC for approximately 5 seconds.

Cold Boot: press Red + TAB for approximately 5 seconds.

Dolphin 7900:

Warm Boot: press Red + ESC for approximately 5 seconds.

Cold Boot: press Red + TAB for approximately 5 seconds.

Dolphin 9500/9550/9551:

Warm Boot: press CTRL + SFT for approximately 5 seconds.

Cold Boot: press CTRL + ESC for approximately 5 seconds.
*There is also a reset switch located in the battery well that can be pressed using the stylus

Dolphin 9700:

Warm Boot: press Red + TAB for approximately 5 seconds.

Cold Boot: press Red + ENT for approximately 5 seconds.

Dolphin 9900, 9950, 9951:

Warm Boot:

On a 35- or 56-key device: press CTRL + SFT for approximately 5 seconds.
On a 43-key device: press CTRL + NUM for approximately 5 seconds.

Cold Boot: press CTRL + ESC for approximately 5 seconds.

Dolphin 7800:

Warm Boot: Press and hold down the Blue and End keys for 5 seconds.

Cold Boot: Press and hold down the Blue and Send keys for 5 seconds.

*There is also a reset button located in the battery well and it can be pressed down using the stylus. It is a circle indentation in the middle of the Dolphin 7800 label.

Dolphin 99EX, 99GX:

Warm BootPress and hold the CTRL and ENTER keys for 5 seconds.

Cold Boot: Press and hold CTRL and ESC keys for 5 seconds.

*There is also a reset button located in the battery well and it can be pressed down using the stylus. The switch can be found by the circle indentation in the battery well.

OptimusPDA / 5700:

Warm Boot: press the Reset button (*).

Cold Boot: press the Reset button* while pressing the Power button then release.

(*) The Reset button is located at the rear of the PDA on the right side above the Battery Cover.
